What is a funeral celebrant?
A funeral celebrant, sometimes referred to as a humanist celebrant, will conduct a funeral service that has a non-religious focus, looking at a celebration of the life of a person. However, a celebrant will conduct the ceremony as you wish – this may be more spiritual, but tends to have a lot of meaning to it, focusing on the life of the individual.
What does a funeral celebrant do?
You may choose to have a funeral celebrant if you would prefer someone else to lead the proceedings instead of conducting them yourself. They can help develop a structure for the service and even make suggestions on what to include. This often takes some of the weight of organising the ceremony off your shoulders, giving you more time to think about celebrating your loved one’s life.
We will recommend a funeral celebrant to you, if this is what you decide to choose. Our suggestions will be based on what you want from the service and how you would like the celebrant to be involved. It’s important that you trust your celebrant, which is why we only have a certain number of recommended suppliers, who we have dealt with before.
Our funeral care team will be able to help you decide if a funeral celebrant is the right choice.
